Obesity in the United Kingdom: Do we need a new approach?

July 18

Free

We cordially invite you to participate in the Obesity Awareness and Support in Manchester (OASIS-GB). The devolved healthcare and social care system in Manchester has enabled a concerted effort to address the disparities in healthcare need with the commissioning of NHS services. Addressing obesity is a significant target to improve the health of the Greater Manchester Area and the nation. Appreciation of the patient experience are fundamental to building an efficacious care pathway. Ensuring client engagement and ameliorating stigmata is crucial. Focusing the minds of the commissioners, patients, scientists, and healthcare professionals to improve awareness of the disease has led appreciation of this complex multifactorial condition. As members of British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) we need to take a leading role individual patient advocacy and care. But also, through the organisation of the accessible weight management services in both the healthcare and community sectors.

This study day has brought together a world-renowned experts, patients, and other stakeholders in the field to help map out the background, contemporaneous practise, and prospects in bariatric care. We look forwards to meeting with you in aide of this worthy cause.
