DESCRIPTION:Registrations are now open for the inaugural Obesity Alliance conference which help healthcare professionals tackle the obesity challenge facing the UK. \nThe event will give UK healthcare professionals access to free CPD-accredited education from leading experts in the field at National Conference Centre Birmingham on May 17\, 2024. \nThe event will be chaired by Professor Melanie Davies CBE\, a Professor of Diabetes Medicine at the University of Leicester and an Honorary Consultant Diabetologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. SUMMARY:King's College London Workshop 'A pledge to end the social stigma of obesity'
DESCRIPTION:Obesity affects millions of people worldwide. These individuals are not only at risk of serious medical complications\, they also face a pervasive form of social stigma and discrimination. \nAt this workshop\, an expert panel of academics\, medics and activists will raise awareness of the prevalence and health impacts of weight-based stigma in healthcare and beyond. They will also challenge the misconceptions around body weight regulation and explain why obesity cannot be solved only by eating less and exercising more. \nThis free hybrid (online and in-person in London) workshop takes place Friday 9th February 2024\, 11-3pm.
