BOMSS ASM 2026: The future of obesity management
The British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 brought together healthcare professionals from across the UK for three days of education, collaboration and discussion on the future of obesity care.
Held at the Novotel London West, this year's meeting welcomed surgeons, physicians, dietitians, psychologists, nurses, researchers and allied health professionals, reflecting the truly multidisciplinary nature of obesity management.
The programme explored a wide range of topics including obesity pharmacotherapy, metabolic and bariatric surgery, genetics, artificial intelligence, endobariatric therapies, anaesthesia, psychology, service design and the future of obesity management within the NHS.
A key highlight of the meeting was the launch of the BOMSS Guidelines for NHS Pathway for People Living with Complex and Severe Obesity, presented by Professor Omar Khan and followed by an expert panel discussion. The guidance represents an important step forward in supporting the development of evidence-based obesity pathways across NHS services.
Delegates also heard from an outstanding faculty of national and international speakers, contributed to lively debates, shared research findings and celebrated innovation across obesity and metabolic healthcare.
Throughout the week, one theme remained clear: improving outcomes for people living with obesity requires collaboration across specialties, services and professions. The discussions, ideas and connections formed during ASM 2026 will help shape the future of obesity care for years to come.
We would like to thank all our speakers, delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, abstract presenters, volunteers and organising committee members for making this year's meeting such a success.
The feedback received throughout the conference has been overwhelmingly positive, with delegates highlighting the quality of the scientific programme, the multidisciplinary discussions and the opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the obesity community.
We look forward to welcoming everyone again next year.
