BOMSS Council of Management Elections

You are here: Home / News / BOMSS Council of Management Elections

21/12/2023

BOMSS have a number of council roles that we wish to fill and are looking for those who wish to make a contribution to the leadership of our specialty as a member of BOMSS Council. We have carefully considered the election process, and to be consistent with the constitution of our CIO, these council roles will be elected by the full membership. This means that IHPs, trainees and consultant BOMSS members all have a vote for these roles, and subsequent elections into trainee and surgeon roles. These roles will be provided with full administrative and other support as needed, to enable effective delivery for the benefit of those we treat and our members.

The five roles to be elected are as below:

– IHP Representative – Psychologist Lead – Click here for job description
– IHP Representative – Nurse Lead – Click here for job description
– IHP Representative – Dietetic Lead – Click here for job description
– Public Patient Involvement (PPI) Lead – Click here for job description
– Medical Physician Lead – Click here for job description

IHP Representative roles

We are advertising three IHP lead roles for dietetics, psychology and nursing. Please see the job descriptions as above in this email. These roles will replace the two previous IHP roles on council and will ensure that these groups will now all have a representative voice.

PPI Lead

The patient and public involvement lead is a new and critical role for our society, which will ensure that we are better able to hear, understand and respond to the user voice in our activities. This is a role open to all members of the society; medical/surgical and IHP.

Medical Physician Lead

This role follows on from former council member Rachel Batterham and is again of key importance given the current and increasing impact of weight loss medication, and also the key role that experts in bariatric medicine have within the specialist MDT along the entire clinical pathway.

Please click the ‘Click here to apply’ link below to find out more about the application process and how to apply. Please ensure that you read the job description for the role you are applying for, which are included above.

The deadline for applications is 8am on Monday 15th January 2024.
