Your mindset

You are here: Home / Patient information / Managing obesity / Your mindset

Focus on improving your overall health and well-being not just numbers on your scale. Ask yourself why now? What are your reasons for deciding to address your weight? Do you want to be more active with your family? Do you want to improve your self-esteem? Discuss with a friend, loved one or your healthcare provider what you want to achieve. This will help to motivate you going forward.

The reasons behind an individual’s weight gain are very different and the identifying the root causes of your weight gain is key in order to address these and move forward. Setting an achievable goal that works within a lifestyle that you still enjoy is key. Focus upon making healthy and enjoyable lifestyle changes that you truly enjoy that improve your overall quality of life.
